How can I keep a signature made with sharpie from bleeding off my surfboard?

I just got a new Stewart and Bill Stewart himself signed it. I want to keep it on there but still be able ride it. I've looked into epoxy sprays and such but everyone warns me that it might make the sharpie run off the board... help me please!!
